Morocco, The cheapest tours of Morocco from Marrakech to Essaouira (see our rates).

Who Are We ???

My name is Khalid and I'm Moroccan with Berber and Arab origins. I'm married and have four children.

I am what one calls in Marrakech and more widely in Morocco, an official mountain guide as opposed to a city guide whose job is to organize visits of Moroccan architectural chefs-d'oeuvres.

You wish to visit Marrakech and its Medina, the palm grove or Jemaa el fna square, go around the desert, ride a mule and be a paying guest somewhere in the Ourika valley, visit the numerous Saadian tombs, the Bahia palace or conquer the High Atlas or shop in the souks, visit typical, beautiful and authentic Morocco?

You'd like several days on a round trip starting from Marrakech, visit a particular site in or out of Marrakech, a simple hike around town or in the Medina, you have a limited or unlimited (laugh) budget? You have young children or you are someone with restricted mobility?

You'd like to visit the Marrakech souk or better still a village one to do some shopping? You'd love to ride in the desert on a dromedary's back before relaxing in a Spa or hamman and enjoy all kinds of scents and poetry...

I can assure you'll have great memories of Marrakech...

I don't know if this is a pledge of trust, but in 2005 I took part in Eric's Bergel TV report on Morocco: in fact I'm staging my life (My beautiful Pigeot for France 3 -equivalent of BBC regional programs).

So there it is, I think I've told you the essentials: for more details click here.

For any further information, contact me as you wish:

- contact form on the home page

- Mobile phone on to 00212 6 50 94 10 24.

PS: See rates from our other partners, they are much higher than ours, some even offer water bottles, we do not do it but if you want I can stop at a grocery store on the road ... from 80 euros for 8 or 10 euros per person I organized a very nice trip during which I would tell you the history of my country Morocco.

Morocco, Excursion to Essaouira: 25° C all year around!!!

180 kms ( +/- 110 miles) between Marrakech and Essaouira: discover the western plain of Haouz, rich with olive and apricot trees and vines. This area is also famous for its green melons which we call SOUIHLA which is also the name of the area when leaving Marrakech.

As one leaves the plain of Haouz , discover a very arid and semi deserted landscape: the Chichaoua plain known of old as ‘the sugar cane plain’.

This plain is one of the main reasons for Essaouira being built here. And then the Chiyadma plain where you’ll admire the Arganier forest. These wild trees are unique and only to be found in Morocco and Mexico and have been declared as heritage.

The town of Essaouira is built on a rocky peninsula. Broom and mimosa were planted so as to fix and retain the dunes. The ancient Mogador will surprise you by its remoteness, overlooking the white and bright city.
The whitewashed façades, doors and windows absorb the sky’s lights and the Araucarias tower up their strange looking chandelier silhouettes. Or the city will appear in shades of pink at sun set. The rigorously carved round shaped ramparts will stand out on the horizon enlivened by flowers beds.
Essaouira has kept its very old Mediterranean trading post cachet.

NB: If you wish to spend a few days in Essaouira I can find you accommodation and for a few Euros more, staff to cook and keep for you.

Morocco, Asni Ouirgane excursion

At 1500 meters of altitude, the Asni valley is a beautiful mountain site, lush with fruit trees and not far from Jbel Toukbal 75 km from Marakkech. As one follows a deep and 17 km long valley, we’ll reach at the foothills of a huge 3000 meters high massif from which soars mount Toukba at 4167 meters. This is the highest peak in North Africa and the second highest on the continent. At the foothills the rock is of a dark colour, without any vegetation or glaciers; you’ll simply find firn. Two oueds meet ( Ait Mizane and Imlil) and make up the Rhirhaya oued. Imlil village (1740 meters) welcomes hikers and provide guides and mules.

We suggest either a hike or mule-trekking with a meal as a paying guest on the way.
Important: This excursion is best done on Berber Souk days: Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Morocco, Ourika Valley excursion

The Ourika valley is located in the heart of the Atlas and is one of the main tourist destinations from Marrakech. It’s one of the most beautiful valleys in the kingdom, rich in history, culture, arts and crafts, cuisine and lush landscapes. The valley spreads from the foothills of the high Atlas and its Dar Kaid L’Ouriki olive grove to the village of Siti Fata. After crossing a first olive grove – Rhemate- the road sinks into the mountains following the Ourika Oued. The brown village roofs will merge with the clayey surroundings. From Arhalou on, the steeply sided valley will take us to Siti Fatma. 1500 meters high; this is a very picturesque village surrounded by walnut trees and weeping willows. You’ll be able to mountain climb through walnut and cherry trees with a guide.

Morocco, Asni Imlil excursion

As we go south to Asni, we’ll run alongside a big stag and mouflon reserve and reach the Ouirgane basin and its salt marsh which stands in an almost alpine landscape. At an altitude of 1000 meters this locality is buried in lush green landscape and is a nice and freshening rest point. This privileged stop is also the starting point of many horse and mule treks to the Berber mountains and typical villages.

We suggest either a hike or mule-trekking with a meal as a paying guest on the way.
Important: This excursion is best done on Berber Souk days: Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Marocco, Excursion Tizi n-tichka-Ait Benhaddou-Ourzazate.

This is the south eastern route through the High Atlas. The lush road which goes through the villages of Air Ourir and Tadart will quickly wind as you near the Tichka pass at 2260 meters of altitude. This is the start of the central Atlas which links Marrakech and the southern Atlas depression with the Sahara after going through Ouarzazate. The contrast is blatant between the steep northern hills and the southern flanks which gently unroll onto an arid plateau. Before reaching Ouarzazate we’ll turn left at Tabourahte so as to discover a Moroccan gem:
The old splendours of the Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, worldwide heritage of the UNESCO. After visiting the Kasbah, we’ll move on to Ourzazate (1160 meters) well known for its cinema studios attended by Hollywood. Its ochre roughcast houses date back to 1928 when the city was a French garrison town. Its Taourite Kasbah is one of the most beautiful in Morocco and once was Pasha Thami Lagloui’s residence.

Morocco, Excursion Berber Tour.

Asni-Ouirgane-Marirha-Amizniz-Takerkouste;

Marirha : Small village between Asni and Ouirgane located in a rich and vast basin. In the village centre we’ll take a small westbound road crossing through olive trees to reach the Aouze pass and its panoramic view of high summits and Lake Ouirgane. Then we’ll go back down towards Oued N’Fis which feeds the Lalla Takerkouste dam. Despite the tarmac road you’ll discover beautiful sublime virgin land. We’ll reach the sweet Berber village of Amizmiz amid the olive trees, built on the foothills of Jbel Erdouze and dominated by the old Kaid Elbachir Kasbah. We’ll move on to the Lalla Takerkouste dam, the name of which originates from the marabou. On the way back to Marrakech we’ll see, not far away from the road,s important Kasbah as those in Oumnaste and Tamslouhte.

Morocco, Excursion to Demnate Ouzoud…

Leaving Marrakech by the north, we’ll cross the palm grove leading to the Haouz plain covered by Olive trees, turn right on the road to the village of Sidi Rahal to reach the city of Demnate Ouzoud on the foothills of the high central Atlas mountains which was a an important trading spot between North and South. It is well known today for its pottery and high quality olive oil. On leaving the city the road climbs and offers a beautiful sight before dipping into the trees on a cliff. Going up the Masseur Oued valley and at a turn of the road you’ll discover the natural Imini-Ifri arch. Hi!! My name is Khalid Zarhloul

I am what one calls in Marrakech and more widely in Morocco, an official mountain guide as opposed to a city guide whose job is to organize museum visits. I have the great privilege to be able to make you discover Morocco and accompany you securely throughout the country;

You’ve reached this web site by chance; you want to come to Morocco for the first time? Worried? Looking for ideas to visit the country, you don’t quite know what to do?

I’m the one who will help you visit Marrakech, its Medina, the desert, the Ourika valley, the Saadian tombs, the Bahia palace, the koutoubia, the souk and all that’s typical, beautiful and authentic in Morocco?
You wish to visit something particular or are thinking of a single (or longer) day trip?
I can take charge of you upon your arrival here in Morocco. I have air conditioned vehicles and mini buses. You have children? Don’t worry: I have a wife and kids of my own and so I know what they can take in my country.
You want to visit Marrakech without being hassled? I know where to take you. You want to discover the sand dunes, massages, go into the desert on the camel back (I’m joking: there are only dromedaries in Morocco), do some cheap shopping (essential oils, oriental slippers, Berber made carpets…)? I know where to find them cheaply as I'm half Moroccan and half Berber. I will explain my country, show you around and share with you the treasures of Morocco should you put your trust in me.
Here you’ll find photos of tours I’ve organised for clients and friends, pricing ideas and brief clients’ own accounts. You will also find a link to a TV documentary in which I appear and of which I’m very proud.
Maybe you think you’ve just found yourself a gem of a guide? No, just someone passionate about his job.
This web site is not a classic commercial site, but there it goes; I’m not a company I’m a self employed guide and I run this small business. This web site is a blog with comments from friends and clients. On the right hand side you’ll find examples on pricing, trips and visits. I insist on the term examples as all is open, depending on your wishes and constraints.
