Marocco, Excursion Tizi n-tichka-Ait Benhaddou-Ourzazate.

This is the south eastern route through the High Atlas. The lush road which goes through the villages of Air Ourir and Tadart will quickly wind as you near the Tichka pass at 2260 meters of altitude. This is the start of the central Atlas which links Marrakech and the southern Atlas depression with the Sahara after going through Ouarzazate. The contrast is blatant between the steep northern hills and the southern flanks which gently unroll onto an arid plateau. Before reaching Ouarzazate we’ll turn left at Tabourahte so as to discover a Moroccan gem:
The old splendours of the Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, worldwide heritage of the UNESCO. After visiting the Kasbah, we’ll move on to Ourzazate (1160 meters) well known for its cinema studios attended by Hollywood. Its ochre roughcast houses date back to 1928 when the city was a French garrison town. Its Taourite Kasbah is one of the most beautiful in Morocco and once was Pasha Thami Lagloui’s residence.
